Transgender Care at the UK College of Medicine

The Department of Urology at the University of Kentucky offers specialized surgical care for transgender individuals in a compassionate and comprehensive setting. Our team of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff ensure a supportive and understanding environment for our patients and their families. We are able to leverage our multidisciplinary collaborative partnerships with plastic surgery, transform health, endocrinology, and gynecology to deliver high quality, patient-centered care while staying close to home

We specialize in the care of transgender patients who have had previous surgeries but may have faced complications including urethral strictures, urinary fistulas, meatal and vaginal stenosis. Additionally, we offer male to female and female to male surgeries including orchiectomy, vaginoplasty, phalloplasty, urethroplasty, and testicular prostheses insertion inter alia. At the UK Department of Urology, we follow the World Professional Association for Transgender Health standards of care when assessing patients’ eligibility for gender-affirming surgery.
